1. Will House of Courage take teenage girls that are pregnant?
We will receive our residents after the mother has given birth to her baby.
2. What age will the residents be?
We are looking to serve teenage mothers between the ages of 14 and 19.Other ages will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
3. Will there be a charge to the residents to stay at House of Courage?
Our residents will be taken in on a sliding scale to make sure that the needs of these young girls and babies are met regardless of ability to pay.
4. Will you be taking custody of residents under the age of 18?
No, parents or legal guardians will sign a non-custodial agreement.
5. How long will the residents stay?
We ask for a minimum 6-month commitment from each young lady. We believe
that this is the least amount of time in which meaningful goals can be
made to assure quality of life after graduation of the program. The length
of stay will depend on the needs of the individual but may be as long
as two years.
6. Who will care for the residents?
Our staff will consist of House Parents, the Executive Director, a Case Worker/Counselor as well as skilled volunteers.
7. How many residents will you be able to serve?
We can serve 12 residents in our current facility; however, we are actively seeking other properties for expansion.
8. How does a young mother enter your program?
We utilize a three-step process of a phone screen, application and personal interview.
